HOUSTON – Losing something as small as an earring might seem trivial to some, but for one Austin family, it’s a devastating loss that carries a deeper meaning.
Hamad Rajput reached out to KPRC 2 reporter Rilwan Balogun and told him about the predicament noting it’s not simply a material object that can be easily replaced. It is a symbol of love, strength, and resilience, and now it’s gone, leaving behind a feeling of emptiness that can’t be filled.

“It’s not just a piece of jewelry,“ Rajput’s email reads. ”it represents love, loss, and the strength we’ve found together during some of the hardest moments of our lives.”

A self-proclaimed foodie, Rajput and his wife, Alina, made the trip from Austin to Sugar Land to try out Aga’s Restaurant on Wilcrest. Despite the challenges of traveling with a baby, the family decided to head to Houston.
The distractions of diaper changes, feedings, and trying to keep the baby calm led to them losing the earring. The couple believes it fell somewhere in the restaurant. Rajput confirms they spoke with the owners to see if they could find it, and staff is actively looking but to no avail, as of this writing.
A $500 reward is being offered to find the earring, which might lead some people to wonder what the significance behind the earrings is. Or perhaps ask, albeit through a myopic perspective, “Why not just buy another one?”
Rajput explained the earrings were gifted as a “push present” to his wife, and these were no ordinary earrings. They were custom-made, designed specifically to honor his wife’s incredible strength throughout a difficult pregnancy that had included not only the physical trials of carrying a child but the emotional toll of losing her mother.

The earrings were meant to be a lasting tribute to her resilience, her mother’s memory, and the love they shared as a family.
“I will forever be indebted to the person who is able to find this and more tangibly, I am happy to offer a $500 reward to the finder,” Rajput told Balogun. “It feels like a piece of our family story is lost. I’m asking for help from anyone who might have seen it or found it.”
If you have any information that can help Rajput find the earring, you’re asked to contact Rilwan or KPRC 2’s Help Desk and reference this story.
