A witness followed Williams to a parking lot on Wade Road and called 911 to report the incident.
Deputies arrived and detained Williams, who claimed his windows were foggy and that he did not see the teen but could not explain why he fled the scene.
Williams was charged with failing to stop and render aid in an accident resulting in injury.
He was booked into jail and is being held on a $20,000 bond, awaiting arraignment.
The student’s injuries are not considered life-threatening, and no additional details about his condition have been released.
