Unsecured toddler dies after 15-year-old crashes car into Houston ditch

Houston police are investigating a tragic crash involving an underage driver that killed a 2-year-old child.

The crash occurred at around 6:05 p.m. Wednesday evening at 9200 Tidwell Rd.

The toddler was a passenger in a white Honda Pilot that was being driven by a 15-year-old boy. The situation that caused the accident isn’t entirely clear, but the driver left the single lane and swerved into a steep ditch. The toddler was not secured in a booster seat and was fatally injured in the crash, although he wasn’t ejected from the car.

Paramedics with Houston Fire Department rushed to the scene, and the toddler was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver was determined not to be impaired, and he was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation into the wreck is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time.
