Two people are dead, and two others were injured after a wrong-way driver caused a late-night crash on State Highway 6 in west Houston, according to police.
Houston police and fire crews responded to the collision around 11:40 p.m. at Southbound State Highway 6 and Briar Forest Drive.

Authorities discovered two vehicles in the roadway and a third vehicle off the road.
Preliminary reports indicate the driver of a white Crown Victoria was traveling westbound on Briar Forest Drive and attempted to make a right turn.
Instead, the driver entered the southbound lanes of SH 6 while driving northbound. While trying to correct the mistake, the Crown Victoria collided head-on with a black Mercedes carrying three occupants.
The driver of the Crown Victoria was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger seated in the rear of the Mercedes also died at the scene.
The driver and front-seat passenger of the Mercedes were rushed to a nearby hospital, and their conditions are unknown.
A third vehicle, a Toyota, struck the Mercedes after the initial crash. The Toyota’s driver was uninjured.
Investigators are working to reconstruct the crash and determine if alcohol played a role in the incident.
