Houston father accused of burning daughter’s hands on stovetop as ‘punishment’

Houston authorities have arrested a father accused of using harsh and dangerous methods, including burning, to discipline his 10-year-old daughter.

Oscar Ovidio Villagas, 39, has been charged after allegedly forcing his daughter to place her hands on an electric stovetop burner and making her hold a heavy object above her head while performing squats.

Court documents indicate Villagas referred to these actions as “punishment.”

The incident reportedly happened on Nov. 22 at an apartment complex on S. Gessner Road in Houston.

Court records indicate that Villagas has been charged with injury to a child, a felony offense, and is currently being held in custody with bond set at $75,000.
