A man was fatally shot at an apartment complex in Harris County, prompting a chaotic scene as gunfire erupted from a nearby unit, striking another building, according to deputies.
Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a deadly shooting that happened early Tuesday morning at an apartment complex in the 200 block of Uvalde Road.

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, preliminary reports indicate that a man was fatally shot by another male at the complex.

As the alleged shooter fled the scene, occupants inside a nearby unit reportedly opened fire at him.
The second round of gunfire struck another building within the complex, but no additional injuries have been reported, Gonzalez said on X.
The shooter managed to escape the area and remains at large. Investigators are actively working to identify and locate the suspect.
Authorities have not released the identities of the victim or the suspected shooter.
