HOUSTON – The Thanksgiving travel rush is here! With over 5.8 million people expected to take to the skies, navigating the airport can be a challenge. Reminder: TSA’s 3.4-ounce limit for liquids, gels, and aerosols in carry-ons is still in effect.

Updated Technology: Some airports, including Bush Intercontinental, have advanced scanners that allow liquids to stay in your bag. However, not all airports have these upgrades. To avoid delays, pack liquids in clear, resealable bags.

What’s Allowed: Solid foods, such as sandwiches and burritos, can go through security without issues.

What’s Not: Soups, sauces, or any liquids must follow the 3.4-ounce rule.

Special Exceptions: Baby formula, breast milk, and juices for infants are allowed in larger quantities but must be declared for additional screening.

Sharp Objects: Knives with blades longer than four inches and large scissors are not allowed in carry-ons.

Firearms: Firearms are prohibited in carry-ons and must be properly checked in.

5. Traveling With Gifts? Leave Them Unwrapped

TSA may need to inspect your presents, so it’s best to leave them unwrapped or pack them in gift bags for easy access.

Plan Ahead

If it’s been a while since your last trip, remember to arrive at the airport two hours early to account for long lines and potential delays.

By following these TSA tips, you’ll ensure a smoother and stress-free travel experience this holiday season. Safe travels!
