HOUSTON – The lines are long, the parking spaces are limited and the highways are jammed up. Thanksgiving travel season has arrived.

An estimated 80 million Americans will hit the road or the skies to get to their Thanksgiving dinner this year, according to AAA.

For those taking off into the sky, the busiest travel day of the year is the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

In Houston alone, an estimated 2.2 million people will fly through George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport.

To see what it’s like to be one of those passengers hurrying to get to the dinner table in time, KPRC 2′s Gage Goulding and Photojournalist Oscar Chavez are going with them.

On Wednesday, Gage and Oscar are catching a roundtrip flight to get a first-hand look at the woes and wins of traveling ahead of Thanksgiving.

They’ll be providing live reports all day long on their progress from the parking lot to the plane - and hopefully back to Houston.

Check back later this morning to track their flight LIVE.
