Man killed in north Houston gunned down by shooters in SUV, witnesses say

HOUSTON – Investigators are looking for a man’s killers overnight Friday in north Houston after he was gunned down in an apparent chase turned drive-by.

It happened around 1 a.m. when police were called to Melbourne St. off Eastex Freeway. Witnesses told police an unidentified man walking down the street was getting chased by a black SUV when all of a sudden, people inside the vehicle started shooting at him.

The man was hit and his shooters took off before police arrived. Emergency crews rushed the unidentified man to a hospital, where officials say he died from his injuries.

It’s unclear what direction the SUV fled to and why he was targeted, but officials are piecing together what they can as part of their ongoing investigation.
