HOUSTON – Police say an hours-long manhunt Monday evening with two suspected home invaders concluded with both of them in handcuffs.

It happened in Houston’s Sunnyside neighborhood on Reed Road off Hwy 288. That’s where investigators said they were called to respond to a home invasion call around 6:30 p.m. and when they arrived, found two gunmen shooting at residents. They weren’t injured, but the gunmen ran away and tried hiding in a wooded area.

Police said one of the home invaders was caught by patrol officers and help from their K9 unit. The other, according to Houston PD Lt. Horelica “played a cat and mouse game with patrol officers and the K9 officers.”

At one point, the home invader climbed a tree, still armed, and refused to come down. The SWAT team was called and so were negotiators to try and get him to come down.

We’re told “flash bangs,” which are less lethal weapons, and 40mm bean bags were fired. The home invader eventually gave himself up a little after 12:30 a.m. and was treated for any injuries by EMS officials before being taken into custody.
