18-year-old arrested after shooting New Caney man in argument over drug deal

A young man has been taken into custody after being suspected of shooting a man in an altercation over a drug deal.

Jason Andrew Knight, 18, has been transported to Montgomery County Jail and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

At around 1:30 a.m. on the morning of Dec. 4, deputies with Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to an emergency room where a 40-year-old man was being treated with a gunshot wound in his abdomen.

An investigation determined that the man was shot during an argument about a drug deal. Knight, the suspected shooter, was quickly identified and arrested at his home in Porter.

The victim is still recovering at the hospital. Authorities say he is in stable condition.
