HOUSTON – New details have been revealed in the capital murder case of Bobby Shah.

Shah is charged with capital murder, accused of shooting and killing 21-year-old Muna Pandey.

Pandey’s body was found in her bed at an apartment complex in August. She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

On Tuesday, a bond hearing was held for Shah. A judge set Shah’s bond at $1 million. His attorney, Wilvin Carter, had asked for the bond to be reduced to $500,000, but the judge denied the request.

“It is extremely high, Mr. Shah is indigent, he does not have the funds to make a million dollar bond,” Carter said.

Carter said Shah and Pandey may have known each other for several months before the shooting and may have also had an intimate relationship.

“They met each other, allegedly, from a dating website and then from that dating website they met at her place of employment and then they became intimate,” Carter said.

Carter said like Pandey, Shah is originally from Nepal, although the two did not know each other beforehand in Nepal.

“I think they met as a result of the common circle of both of them being from Nepal, but prior to the allegations that we are here for today, they did not know one another,” Carter said.
