A man accused in the 2018 murder of his ex-wife, Charine Wilson, is back in custody after years on the run.
Johnny Leon Wilson, 48, is charged with murder in the 263rd State District Court. Authorities apprehended him in Grand Prairie, Texas, thanks to efforts by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force.

Charine Wilson, 29, was last seen on Nov. 10, 2018, at Johnny Wilson’s apartment at 8950 Glencrest St.
Her son told investigators that she entered the apartment while he waited in the car. Moments later, Johnny Wilson exited the apartment alone, drove Charine’s vehicle to a fast-food restaurant, dropped off the boy, and disappeared.
Charine was reported missing by her family on Nov. 12, 2018. Her mother confirmed her body was discovered days later in a ditch near Richland, in Navarro County. She had been shot multiple times.

On Nov.14, 2018, a warrant was issued for Johnny Wilson’s arrest, and he was charged in connection with her murder. He was apprehended on Feb. 17, 2019, but fled the Houston area after posting bail.
Justice Resumes
After evading authorities for years, Johnny Wilson was located and arrested on Dec. 2.
He was booked into the Grand Prairie Police Department Jail and is awaiting extradition to Harris County to face charges.
Houston police credit the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies for bringing Wilson back into custody.
Investigators continue to piece together the events leading up to Charine’s death as her family seeks justice and closure.
