HOUSTON – A Harris County sheriff’s deputy and another driver were hospitalized overnight Thursday after the two collided at an intersection.

It happened a little after midnight when investigators said the officer was responding to a stabbing call with their lights and sirens on.
An unidentified woman in her 60s was heading south on Mason Road while the deputy was going west on Colonial Parkway and both drivers smashed into each other at the intersection off I-10.
We’re told the officer’s patrol car kept going and crashed into a tree. It’s unclear if the deputy or the other driver was the one who ran the red light, but were both taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons.
An investigation into who was at fault remains underway.
