BAYTOWN, Texas – A wanted murder suspect is in custody after a standoff with law enforcement at a hotel in Baytown.
According to John Nanny with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received information that a man wanted for a murder which happened several weeks ago off Uvalde Road was at the Baytown Super 8 hotel located at 1931 East Freeway.
Because it was believed that the suspect may have been armed with a rifle, SWAT was called into the scene. After about two or three hours, the suspect surrendered.
“Once we confirmed that he was here, we attempted to negotiate him coming out and surrendering peacefully, it took him a while but after some chemical munitions he finally surrendered,” Nanny said.

Nanny said after chemical munitions were fired through the window of the hotel room the suspect was in, they breached the door, at which point the suspect surrendered.
Nobody else was in the hotel room with the suspect.
The sheriff’s office identified the suspect as Adrian Reeves, 35. He was booked into jail on the murder warrant.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed Reeves is charged in connection to the death of Tomas Newman.
Gonzalez said Reeves allegedly shot and killed Newman on Nov. 26 after Newman went to check on a neighbor’s house.
“Reeves apparently went to the location in search of someone he had conflict with, but came across Newman instead,” Gonzalez said.
