HOUSTON, Texas – An inmate who escaped from custody while being processed at the Harris County Joint Processing Center in downtown Houston has been captured.
Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said 22-year-old Daniel Eugene Douglas was able to escape from the processing center parking garage while being escorted along with three other inmates by Baytown police officers around noon on Thursday.

According to deputies, one of the officers opened the vehicle door for another law enforcement vehicle to come in and Douglas fled through the open bay door.
The sheriff’s office said at 3:45 p.m., Douglas was captured by authorities.
Harris County’s Special Investigations Division and Baytown Police Department collaborated to locate Douglas.

Douglas was originally charged with aggravated assault in a family violence case.
