Nearly 20 Cleveland ISD students hospitalized after bus crash

CLEVELAND, Texas – Two Cleveland ISD school buses crashed into each other Wednesday morning, sending nearly 20 students to the hospital.

We’re told it happened on Hwy 105 and Hwy 321 near Cleveland Middle School. It’s unclear how the accident transpired, but we’re told a total of 17 students were hospitalized as a precaution and treated for injuries.

Those students have since had their injuries evaluated and cleared before they were taken to Cleveland Middle School, but are being monitored by the school’s nursing staff.

District officials also said the student’s parents have been called and are working to figure out exactly what happened.

“Transportation is now contacting parents directly regarding their children. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we focused on the immediate safety and well-being of our students,” the district said in its social media post. “We are working closely with authorities to investigate the incident and will share updates as needed. Thank you to first responders for their quick assistance.”
