Woman killed in hit-and-run crash on Westpark Drive in SW Houston

A hit-and-run crash in southwest Houston claimed the life of a woman early Friday morning, with police initially reporting the victim as a child.

The incident happened around 6:45 a.m. in the 9200 block of Westpark Drive near Fondren Road.

According to the Houston Police Department, the call initially came in as a report of a child, found unresponsive in the street.

Investigators later determined the victim was an adult pedestrian struck by an unknown vehicle. It remains unclear what time the hit-and-run crash occurred.

The HPD Vehicular Crimes Division is leading the investigation and has urged drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes as authorities work to gather evidence and locate the driver.

Further details about the victim or potential suspects have not been released.
