This weekend, Houston-area law enforcement agencies worked together with Mayor John Whitmire to patrol one of the city’s most rambunctious areas. Their efforts seemed to pay dividends, as multiple stops led to arrests of would-be criminals in the Washington Corridor.
The involved agencies included the Houston Police Department, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, METRO Houston Police and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The collaboration in the area was announced on X by Mayor Whitmire’s office account. He reported that HPD shut down a “parking lot takeover” near Washington Ave.

By the end of the night Saturday, multiple people were arrested after being apprehended by the officials patrolling the area. Across 123 total traffic stops, the mayor’s office reported 23 arrests and 27 charges.

Offenses included 10 charges of driving while intoxicated, four charges of reckless driving, two charges of felony possession of a controlled substance, and even a charge of evading in a motor vehicle.
