Funeral arrangements announced for Milby student killed in train incident

Funeral arrangements have been announced for Sergio Ivan Rodriguez, a 15-year-old Houston high school student remembered for his passion for football and his ability to bring joy to those around him. (Copyright 2024 by KPRC Click2Houston - All rights reserved.)

Family, friends, and classmates will gather Monday to remember Sergio Ivan Rodriguez, a Milby High School student whose life ended in a tragic train accident last week.

Visitation will be held today, Dec. 16, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Compean Funeral Home, located at 2102 Broadway Blvd. in Houston.

A Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. during the visitation.

Sergio, a 10th-grade student at Charles H. Milby High School, passed away on Dec. 9.

Known for his infectious sense of humor and love for sports, Sergio was admired for his dedication to football and his ability to bring joy to those around him.

He also cherished spending time with his family and his beloved cats, Chana and Rambo.

In his obituary, Sergio’s family shared memories of his happy, energetic spirit and how he found joy in simple moments, whether playing football, gaming, or bonding with his loved ones.
