Authorities clear submerged car after suspected drunk driver says boyfriend might be inside

A submerged car in a Harris County pond has been recovered, and authorities confirm no one was inside after a suspected drunk driver claimed her boyfriend might have been in the vehicle.

The car was found submerged in a pond in the 7100 block of Avalon Bend Circle Friday morning.

According to officials, deputies from Harris County Constable Precinct 4 initially responded to the incident and arrested a woman suspected of driving while intoxicated.

The driver reportedly told investigators she did not remember if her boyfriend was in the car at the time it entered the pond.

This incident comes just a day after deputies recovered a body from another pond in the same neighborhood.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials have not yet released additional details.
