The crime occurred just before 2:15 p.m. on Dec. 20 at the Food Town store located at 5 Uvalde Road in Harris County’s eastside.
A courier exited his armored car and entered the store carrying a bag with an undisclosed amount of money. Two men stalked the employee in the parking lot and followed him into the store. Once inside, one of the men rushed the courier and attempted to grab the bag of cash. When he resisted, the other suspect sprayed him in the face with an unknown substance.
The courier was temporarily blinded by the assault, which caused him to fall on the floor and lose control of the bag. The suspects quickly snatched the cash and ran out of the building. A third suspect was waiting for the duo in a white Hyundai Elantra, and the group made a swift getaway, traveling southbound on Uvalde Road.
The victim suffered temporary blindness from being sprayed, but nobody else was injured by the attack.
Investigators believe that the two men who entered the store were between 18 and 22 years old with slim builds. One wore a black hoodie, and the other wore a white hoodie. They do not have a description of the driver, as he never exited the vehicle during the heist.
