According to a post on X by the Houston Police Department, an unidentified officer with their Mental Health Division got in his car at the department’s headquarters on N Chenevert Street in downtown.

Officials said the officer was set to begin work that Saturday afternoon but before he could, the officer found a man’s body in the backseat.

“At this time, it is unknown how the male entered the vehicle and it appears he may have been seeking shelter from the weather,” HPD said in the post.
