Photos, videos capture Texas tornado destruction in Houston

A series of tornadoes tore across Southeast Texas on Saturday, with the worst destruction seen in Brazoria County, where an EF-2 tornado claimed one life and injured several others.

Breaking down the tornadoes

Brazoria County : An EF-2 tornado tore through Brazoria County, beginning near County Road 172 and traveling 8.8 miles toward the Hillcrest area, about 50 miles south of Houston. The storm caused significant damage at Walt Disney Elementary School. Tragically, one person was killed, and several others were injured.

Galveston County: An EF-1 tornado briefly touched down near Dickinson High School, carving a short 250-yard path roughly 35 miles southeast of Houston. Despite its brief appearance, the tornado caused considerable roof damage to several homes in the area.

Montgomery County: Montgomery County endured multiple tornadoes, including a destructive EF-3 tornado in Porter Heights, located about 40 miles north of Houston. This storm left severe damage, with reports of homes destroyed and widespread tree damage. Additional EF-2 tornadoes were reported across the region.

Katy: A powerful tornado ripped through the Windward community in North Katy on December 28, 2024, tearing roofs off homes and flipping vehicles.

Chambers County: A powerful EF-3 tornado struck along Highway 124 in Chambers County, approximately 60 miles east of Houston, with additional EF-2 damage near Smith Point and the Chambers-Jefferson County line.
