Neighbors tell KPRC 2 that Shamsud-Din Jabbar lived in his Houston home off Crescent Peak driver for a year and a half.
KPRC 2 reporter Corley Peel spoke with a man who works on the property who said Jabbar handed over his keys and said he was moving to New Orleans on Monday, just two days before the terrorist attack in New Orleans that killed 15 people on New Years Day.
The worker described Jabbars’ demeanor as sad. He said Jabbar lived at the home alone, was nice and typically kept to himself. The only strange interaction he had was when Jabbar asked him where all of the security cameras were on the property and where they were pointed two days before he moved out.
FBI Houston and Harris County Sheriff SWAT finished their overnight raid at Jabbar’s home on Thursday morning. The house was left significantly damaged, with the front door left hanging on its hinges.
KPRC 2 obtained video showing inside the home after the court-ordered search. The home appeared to be disheveled after investigators looked for evidence inside. Jabbar’s residence appeared to be fully furnished despite him moving out. The property worker said Jabbar planned to leave the furniture for the next renter.
Detectives said Jabbar used a white Ford F150 to carry out the truck attack. A neighbor said he saw the truck in the driveway for only one day. He said he only had positive interactions with Jabbar.
“All I know, he was a nice, quiet neighbor. Wouldn’t bother. I know my kids would sometimes scream, but he wouldn’t be bothered,” said neighbor Mumtaz Bashir.
FBI Houston said no arrests were made during their search. FBI New Orleans is the lead agency investigating the attack.
