Friend tells deputies he accidentally shot two teenage brothers, killing one of them in north Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Authorities are piecing together what led up to a deadly shooting overnight Monday in north Harris County after a 19-year-old was killed and his younger brother was hospitalized.

Deputies were called to a home in the Aldine area around 1 a.m. on William Tell Street off Little York.

Sgt. Richie with HCSO’s Homicide Division said an unidentified 19-year-old man and his younger brother (about 17 years old) were shot.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says the older brother was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. The younger brother was shot in the leg and remains in the hospital recovering.

In an update sent out Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said a teenage friend of the two brothers was the shooter. The friend claimed the shooting was an accident. The teenager was later released to his mother.

Along with the shooter and the two brothers, the sheriff’s office says there was another teenage friend as well as two adults inside the house.

The Juvenile Division of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office has requested the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Lead investigator present the case to them at the end of the week to determine if any charges will be filed against the teenager.
