Snow, black ice, sleet and dangerously cold temperatures - all headed to areas to the north of us, including the Dallas and Arlington Areas.
This is as thousands of Texas plan to hit the roadways for the Cotton Bowl on Friday. So why is this a big deal? Doesn’t it snow in Dallas all the time?

Dallas sees snowfall every single year -but in the past 30 years - only 3 times have they received 5″ or more of snowfall.
Right now, we’re tracking the chance for dangerous weather conditions - including the possibility of 2-5 inches (with the possibility of 8+ in some isolated areas)
And here is the deal - even if we don’t get that much snow - that means we get more ice.
And as a former traffic reporter, I can tell you that the 100+ car pile on 35 in February 2021 was one of the most horrific accidents I’ve ever seen, reported on or ever studied.
Which is why your weather team is hitting the road today and will report on the live conditions starting tomorrow at 5 am while our team of meteorologists will continue to bring you updates for both Dallas and Houston throughout the storm.
So if you’re planning to travel to the Cotton Bowl - we’ll continue to bring you updates throughout the storm.
I’ll make sure to post weather stories on my weather account!
