Facebook sale leads to deadly robbery at Spring-area home

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man was killed in a robbery near Spring Thursday after what was supposed to be an online sale turned deadly.

The Harris County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office said it happened in the 22100 block of Bridgestone Pine Court. This is in the Bridgestone Lakes subdivision off FM 2920.

According to Sgt. Sidney Miller with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, they got the call at 3:22 p.m. and arrived to find a man unconscious in the driveway of a home. Neighbors say the man didn’t even have any shoes on when they found him unconscious. He was transported to Kingwood Hospital where he died.

Miller said the victim had made an arrangement to make a sale to individuals on Facebook.

“That’s definitely a dangerous business, especially at your house,” Miller said.

In the afternoon, a white car pulled up to the home with at least three people inside. Two of the passengers got out and started having a discussion with the man. Not long afterward, a struggle ensued. During the struggle, the victim was injured which authorities believe caused his death.

Video shared with KPRC 2 shows the man being chased around a yard. He appears to be slammed to the ground, striking his head before his attackers grab onto him, drag him across the concrete and go through his pockets.

“The victim sustained some injuries. Right now, we can’t tell...what type of injuries at this point,” Miller said.

The victim is described as an Asian male in his 30s. We don’t know what exactly the man was selling, but investigators say the suspects were able to get away with items stolen from him.

“If you’re going to be doing selling anything online, I would recommend that you meet these people, either a police station or some type of area where there’s, you know, people around and someone there with you,” Miller said.

The suspects are described as men in their late teens or early 20s. They took off in the white car.

Authorities are interviewing witnesses and looking for any cameras that might have captured the robbery.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
