Multiple lanes on Southwest Freeway reopened after snowplows damage road

HOUSTON – Multiple lanes across the Southwest Freeway were temporarily closed Wednesday night due to damage caused by snowplows clearing the roadways.

Both north and southbound lanes on I-69 between University Boulevard and Riverbrook were closed. The closure was supposed to begin at 6 p.m., however, it was briefly delayed. TxDOT then shut them down.

The Houston District of the Texas Department of Transportation announced the closure on X.

KPRC 2′s Bryce Newberry contacted TxDOT, which confirmed that the pavement needed to be repaired after stripes and markers were removed from the road by snowplows.

The lanes are scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. Thursday.
