What happened

According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the carjacking occurred Wednesday at a gas station near Clay Road and Greenhouse Road, where a woman was carjacked at gunpoint. The woman was later found unharmed, but law enforcement discovered another woman in the backseat of the suspect’s vehicle who had suffered a gunshot wound.

Harris County Precinct 5 deputies located the stolen vehicle shortly after the carjacking. The suspect, later identified as Morgan, led law enforcement on a 10-minute chase, which ended when he crashed into another vehicle at Clay Road and the Grand Parkway.

Following the crash, Morgan attempted to flee on foot but was quickly caught by deputies.

During their investigation, deputies found a woman in the backseat of the car who had been shot. Sheriff Gonzalez confirmed that the wounded woman was not connected to the carjacking victim. She is currently in fair condition and is expected to survive.

Authorities are working to determine the relationship between Morgan and the woman found in the backseat, as well as the circumstances surrounding her gunshot wound. No additional details have been released at this time.

Sheriff Gonzalez praised law enforcement efforts for the swift apprehension of Morgan and noted that the carjacking victim’s quick response likely saved her life.
