HOUSTON – The Houston Fire Department says a firefighter has been taken to a nearby emergency room after being injured while fighting a fire at a townhome in the Galleria area.

The department says the fire happened at 2668 Bering Drive.
@HoustonFire is currently on scene at 2668 Bering Dr for an apartment on fire. There have not been any reports of civilian injuries. One firefighter was injured & is being transported to a nearby ER. Please avoid this area due to heavy emergency equipment.

No one else was injured in the fire. HFD says the firefighter was hurt after falling through the roof of the apartment home. He is being checked out and his injuries are not life-threatening.
The house was being remodeled at the time and no one was inside the home.
Crews are investigating the cause of the fire.
