Harris County deputies now say that a man taken into custody Friday morning near a Spring ISD school bus had asked the driver for directions, contrary to earlier reports that he attempted to board the bus and offer Uber rides to children.

According to the latest update from Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office, the suspect was detained in the 15300 block of Walters Road on an open warrant. Spring ISD officials were also on the scene.

Officials now say the man had approached the bus driver seeking directions. He was later arrested due to an open warrant. Authorities also confirmed that the suspect was in possession of a Japanese throwing star, also known as a “ninja star.”
