Fort Bend County man charged with wife’s murder seeks bond reduction

David Wayne Pollard, 47 (FBCSO)

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – David Pollard, accused of murdering his wife Iona Pollard, is seeking his bond to be reduced.

Pollard’s attorney, Courtney Rosen Kovach, has submitted a motion to reduce his bond from $300,000 to $75,000, citing his strong community ties and lack of criminal history. Pollard, who has lived in Fort Bend County for 18 years, is described as a devoted father to two daughters, one in college and the other in high school. The defense argues that his financial situation, worsened by recent arson damage to his home, makes the current bond unattainable.

In addition to the bond reduction request, Pollard is seeking the return of personal property, including two vehicles seized during the investigation. The vehicles are essential for his daughter’s transportation and his potential employment if released, according to documents obtained by KPRC 2.

Pollard has also filed a motion to modify bond conditions to allow contact with his daughters, who have expressed a strong desire to see him.

According to the statement from Lamar CISD, Iona was an instructional coach at George Junior High School.

Pollard is scheduled to appear in court Monday, February 24th for a bond reduction hearing.
