HOUSTON – A 15-year-old boy was in custody accused of shooting his mother and sister in north Houston while on edibles.
It happened at an apartment on Greens Road and Seminar Drive at about 11 p.m. Saturday.
Police said the teen called 911 threatening to shoot himself or someone else.
“When they arrived, they found out that the 15-year-old suspect had just eaten a bunch of edibles and I guess had a bad reaction to them,” said Lt. Horelica with the Houston Police Department.
Officers found the boy’s mother and 17-year-old sister had been shot multiple times.
They were both rushed to the hospital for surgery and were in critical condition. On Sunday night, HPD sources said both the mother and the sister are now stable.
“[The firefighters] encountered the suspect in the parking lot, the suspect pointed the firearm at the firemen and stated he had just killed somebody, then threw his weapon at the firemen and took off running,” said Horelica.
Police arrived on the scene and arrested the 15-year-old boy nearby. He is also hospitalized, but he will be turned over to the juvenile authorities once he recovers.
The boy’s 16-year-old sister was also home at the time of the shooting but was not hurt.
