HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A Harris County deputy sheriff was found dead one day after being reported missing.

The Harris County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office posted on Facebook announcing the passing of Harris County Deputy Sheriff Christina Kohler.

The constable’s office said Kohler was found dead on Thursday in the 8600 block of Almeda Genoa Road.

“Her name, her life, absolutely deserves to be remembered for her commitment to our profession,” the constable’s office said.

The Clear Alert was canceled early Friday morning for Kohler.

Deputy Kohler’s death is being investigated by the Houston Police Department as an apparent suicide. An autopsy is being conducted to confirm the cause of her death.

Deputy Kohler joined the Sheriff’s Office in 2018 and was most recently assigned to the courts division.

The Sheriff’s Office Behavioral Health Division is offering mental health and peer support services to Deputy Kohler’s colleagues as they grieve her tragic loss.

Family members told KPRC 2 they are asking for prayers.
