The State of Texas was slightly down in tournament representation compared to last season, dropping from six teams to five teams. However, the state is still home to one of the top overall teams on the bracket with serious potential to make a deep run: the Houston Cougars.

The rest of the pack in the Lone Star State inspires a little less assurance, but each and every one of these five teams could very easily carve a path to the Sweet 16 (or maybe even further).

Let’s meet the five Texas teams in 2025 March Madness:

Houston Cougars

Seed: 1 (ranked 3rd overall in the field of 68)

Record: 30-4 (19-1, Big 12 regular season conference champions)

Conference tournament outcome: Won final (72-64 W vs. Arizona in Big 12 Championship Final)

Next up: vs. 16-seed SIU Edwardsville on Thursday at 1 p.m. on TBS
