Officials at the scene said the dogs were found matted, dirty, and cruelly confined, suffering from the effects of hoarding.

Veterinary staff from the Houston SPCA, along with veterinary students from Texas A&M, are assessing each dog for immediate health concerns and needs.

The Houston SPCA urges the public to report suspected cases of animal neglect and abuse to help prevent further suffering by calling 713-869-7722 or uploading photos and videos at HoustonSPCA.org.
