HOUSTON – Edible Arrangements, the popular business known for its assortment of fruit into a flower-bouquet design-inspired basket, announced it would be introducing a new type of edibles. Yeah, that kind.

In a news release, Edible Brands, its parent company, announced it would be launching a website selling hemp brands online. The website, Edibles.com, officially became available in Texas on Thursday, with plans to expand into other legal markets across the Southeast.

The company notes its intention to provide quality and tested products to reshape how the THC industry is perceived. However, the timing behind this website’s launch comes on the heels of the Texas Senate passing Senate Bill 3, which looks to ban all forms of THC-infused products.

Thomas Winstanley, the website’s executive vice president, shared the following statement on the bill.

“The proposed total ban on hemp-derived products through the Texas Senate Bill 3 (SB3) is not the solution,” he said. “Bans, as reflected in the bill, force the good actors out and allow the illicit operators to grow. Additionally, there are tax dollars at risk, businesses will struggle to survive, and over 50K jobs will be lost.

“However, we do fundamentally support better regulations in Texas. Introducing more regulatory oversight around potency caps, child-safe packaging, prohibiting marketing to minors, restricting sales to 21+ consumers, and an excise tax to fund enforcement and compliance,” Winstanley continued. “These would bridge the gap between the concerns of the policymakers and the industry leaders to create a safer ecosystem for the category.”

“The hemp industry is evolving rapidly, but consumers still face challenges with perception, education, and accessibility,” said Somia Farid Silber, CEO of Edible Brands. “We’re making it easier than ever for consumers to access premium, vetted products with the convenience they expect today.”
