Milos Uzan led Houston with 16 points, while Katy native L.J. Cryer added 15.

SIUE scored the first points of the game with a dunk from Kyle Thomas, but Houston quickly asserted itself as the dominant team, jumping out to a 21-6 lead with scores from five different players.

SIUE attempted to get things going on offense, but every score they had seemed to be immediately met by Houston, and then some. Cryer ended the first half with back-to-back triples to put an exclamation point on a 52-24 first half lead.

The second half was more of the same, as Houston extended its lead to 30 points and never looked back. As the final whistle sounded, the Cougars of Houston had secured a 38-point victory.

In the second round on March 22, the Cougars will face the winner of today’s Gonzaga-Georgia game.
