According to the FAA, staffing issues at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport are causing the temporary ground stop, affecting flights from Bush Airport, Hobby, and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (also known as MSY).

What this means is a staffing problem at the airport in Austin, causing problems for planes trying to land there.

Why is Houston involved? Airplanes traveling to Austin enter through Houston airspace, which is a sector of the sky that’s controlled by an FAA control center just outside of George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.

As a result, travelers can expect arrival delays.
