Shootout at west Houston gas station leaves one dead, another wounded

A shooting at a Valero station in west Houston left one person dead and another injured Sunday morning.

Houston police say the incident happened just before noon at the gas station located at Briar Forest and Wilcrest. Two people in separate vehicles became involved in an altercation that escalated into gunfire.

The shooting left one person fatally shot at the scene, while the other, who was wounded, managed to drive to the intersection of Wilcrest and Westheimer. Emergency responders transported the injured person to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the shooting and have not released further details.

No additional information about the identities of those involved has been disclosed at this time.
