It happened around 1 a.m. when Sgt. David Rose with HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said an unidentified driver was going the wrong way on I-45 South toward Memorial Drive.

It’s unclear why the driver was going in the opposite direction, but Sgt. Rose said a total of three cars were involved. Two people died and five others were injured, including the accused driver behind this major crash.

One of the vehicles, Sgt. Rose said, carried a family of four: a mother, father, a 10-year-old boy, and a little girl. They were all rushed to a hospital, where the boy and his mother died, while the little girl and her father were last said to be in serious condition.

Five other people were injured including the accused driver behind this major crash. Another car, Sgt. Rose said, was carrying a woman who is believed to be 2 months pregnant but is expected to be OK, and a man she was with in the car, suffered minor injuries.
