A Precinct 3 deputy is recovering from minor injuries after a crash on Beltway 8 near Tidwell. It happened just after 6 p.m. on Sunday when the deputy pulled someone over on the East Sam Houston Tollway Southbound.

Authorities say while the deputy was handling the stop, another car slammed into the patrol vehicle. The driver of that car was seriously hurt and flown to the hospital, but they’re now in stable condition.
The person in the car that was pulled over wasn’t hurt, and their vehicle wasn’t damaged.
The crash shut down all main lanes and both shoulders in the area. Drivers were stuck in backups for hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
