HOUSTON – Every student wants to look their best for prom, but not every family can afford the dress, the shoes, and the accessories that go into getting ready for the big night.
It’s why local nonprofit This Woman’s Work is hosting a prom dress drive for young ladies in Houston ISD.
The prom dress drive will help make a young lady’s prom night special. HISD will take the dresses and create an opportunity for young ladies to shop for the perfect dress, shoes, and accessories for their special night, all FREE OF CHARGE. To learn more, click here.
The collection event will occur on Saturday, March 29, at The Gite Gallery in the historic Third Ward from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is a fantastic opportunity to help a young lady’s prom dreams come true.
If you can’t make this Saturday’s drive, there will be some other similar events around the Greater Houston area.

In Cleveland, for example, The 27 Dresses Annual Prom Dress Sale is returning, where you can find your dream dress at $50 or less! That event will be held Friday, March 28 from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 29 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on E. Houston Street. Learn more by clicking here.
“Why pay full price when you can shop amazing dresses—all donated—and still have more to spend on your prom experience?” Organizers said in a post on Facebook.
If those dates don’t work, then Blue Bird Circle is hosting its prom dress drive on Saturday, April 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Blue Bird Circle Resale Shop on 615 West Alabama, Houston, Texas 77006.
Organizers are also inviting consignors and volunteers to bring in their gently used prom dresses during March, to ensure a wide variety of styles and sizes for attendees.
