Quarter Horse stolen from Polk County property; suspects spotted with trailer

A beloved Quarter Horse named Sam was stolen from a property in Polk County on Sunday evening, and now authorities are asking for the public’s help to track him down.

The horse was stolen from a property near the county line around 7:50 p.m. on March 23 along FM 943, east of Big Sandy.

Witnesses reported seeing a reddish-orange Nissan truck towing an open-top stock trailer with matching paint and red reflectors in the area around the time Sam was taken.

Sam is described as a buckskin gelding Quarter Horse standing 16 hands tall. The thieves reportedly cut through a fence to take him.

Deputies are asking anyone with information to contact the Polk County Sheriff’s Office at 936-327-6810. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through p3tips.com, the P3 Tips app, or by calling Polk County Crime Stoppers at (936) 327- STOP. Information leading to an arrest could result in a cash reward.
