HOUSTON – A mother is pleading for help in her search for justice after her son was killed in a hit-and-run accident nearly a month ago.
Tyler Hessong, 32, was walking along FM 1960 West near State Highway 249 at around 8 p.m. when he was struck and left to die.
Hessong died on February 28, just two days after celebrating his birthday. He leaves behind a grieving mother and a 2-year-old daughter named Avery.
“He was the love of my life. He was such a good man,” his mother, Treva Nunley, said. “He helped so many people, especially those who were struggling. He was so supportive and so helpful. He had a kind heart. He was a wonderful man.”
Nunley and Hessong’s girlfriend, Austin Riggs, were at the Houston Police Department’s property room Tuesday to collect Hessong’s belongings, including his phone and backpack.
“It’s very emotional for us both,” Nunley said as she reflected on the loss.
Nunley shared that photos and memories of her son are all she has left.
“He was staying at the Wyndham right there at the corner of Mills and FM 1960,” Nunley explained. “He was walking to the store to get cigarettes when this happened.”
Nunley is asking anyone with information on her son’s death to please come forward.
“Help us find the person that just left the scene. They left my son there to die.”
If you know anything about this case, you’re asked to call HPD or Crime Stoppers. The number for Crime Stoppers is 713-222-TIPS.
