Woman accused of targeting Facebook Marketplace sellers charged with theft, armed robbery

HOUSTON – A woman accused of targeting and setting up sellers on Facebook Marketplace has been charged, according to court documents.

Alexandria Sanders, 25, has been charged with theft from a person on August 30, 2024, and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon on December 17, 2024.

Details of the August 30, 2024, incident

According to court records, Sanders arranged to meet with a person selling an iPad for $275 in the 2400 block of Bluerock Street. The seller stated that she made it very clear to Sanders that the transaction would only be completed with cash.

When they met at the location for Sanders to inspect the iPad, she said she wanted to charge the device to ensure it worked and began charging it in her vehicle. Sanders then reportedly attempted to pay the seller via Cash App and Venmo, but the seller insisted on cash only.

According to records, Sanders then got into her vehicle and drove away with the iPad still inside. The victim stated that Sanders never returned with the money.

Sanders was reportedly identified through her driver’s license, which was connected to her vehicle.

Details of the December 17, 2024, incident

According to charging documents, Sanders expressed interest in purchasing wigs from a woman selling them on Facebook Marketplace. The two agreed to meet in the 11200 block of Westpark Drive.

Sanders arrived with another person, and as they examined the wigs, they suddenly grabbed them from the seller, according to records. When the seller attempted to retrieve her wigs, the unknown suspect accompanying Sanders pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the seller’s head.

Fearing for her life, the woman stepped back, and Sanders drove away with the wigs, which were valued at $1,000.

The seller was able to record the license plate number of the vehicle Sanders was driving.
