Commitment to helping others fuels Cristobal Quijano's dream to work in law enforcement

Quijano is the eleventh recipient of the KPRC 2-American Furniture Warehouse Senior Scholarship from the Class of 2025

HOUSTON – KPRC 2 and American Furniture Warehouse are surprising 20 deserving high school seniors with $2,500 scholarships in 2025. All students selected for scholarships have been nominated by their high schools.

Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy senior Cristobal Quijano is the eleventh recipient of the KPRC 2-American Furniture Warehouse Senior Scholarship from the Class of 2025. Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy for Young Men is part of the Houston Independent School District.

Quijano has an appreciation for nature and spends time learning wilderness survival skills and volunteering as a Junior Leader in The Woods Project. The group’s service projects include cleaning up and maintaining public parks around Houston, including Big Thicket and Memorial Park. Quijano has also volunteered with the Houston Food Bank.

In addition to school and his extracurricular activities, Quijano participates in the Genesys Works program and is currently an intern at Accenture. He credits the program with teaching him valuable business and networking skills.

Quijano will pursue a degree in Criminal Justice with the goal of working in law enforcement one day.
