Police said an unidentified driver was speeding northbound, when he lost control, veered off the road into a ditch, and flipped over several times before hitting the building.
Because of the crash’s impact, officials said the woman in the passenger seat was partially ejected through the vehicle’s rear windshield. Both the driver and passenger were taken to Matagorda Regional Medical Center. Their conditions were not detailed, but investigators said the woman was later airlifted to a Houston hospital.
Officers also said the driver showed intoxication signs, leading to a DWI blood warrant being obtained and executed at the hospital.
No additional details have been shared, as of this writing, but an investigation remains ongoing as authorities await test results.
