HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Authorities with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office says a man who robbed a woman outside a bank has been taken to a hospital after being hit by a vehicle while running from a deputy.

Authorities say the suspect was hit at 13705 East Freeway, between Uvalde Road and Freeport Street. This happened around 8:50 p.m.
According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect robbed a woman at gunpoint at a nearby Chase Bank, at which time a deputy arrived. The suspect ran from the deputy and tried to cross the freeway when he was hit by a vehicle in the westbound lanes.

The suspect was said to be awake and breathing when he was taken to a hospital. His current condition is unknown.
Westbound traffic is being diverted onto the Freeport Street exit.
